About the Atlanta BeltLine
Now, more than ever, it’s an exciting time to be living in or thinking of a move to the city of Atlanta in light of the Atlanta BeltLine. This roughly 25 year project, now in it’s 17th year, was initially conceived as a master’s thesis in 1999 by Ryan Gravel, a Georgia Tech student, who envisioned “a 22-mile transit greenway that transforms old railroad corridors with light-rail transit, parks and multi-use trails to generate economic growth and protect quality-of-life in 45 historic neighborhoods throughout the central city.” In addition to the light rail that will connect a substantial portion of the city of Atlanta, the Atlanta BeltLine will eventually have 35 miles of multi-use pedestrian and bike friendly trails, several miles of which have already been completed.
The Atlanta BeltLine is considered one of the nation’s most ambitious, wide-ranging, and successful urban redevelopment projects currently underway. A multitude of economic growth, spurred on by the Atlanta BeltLine, which includes new retail establishments, restaurants and bars, homes, townhouses, condominiums, apartments, and cultural events continue to enhance the in-town lifestyle many singles, couples, and families are seeking, now and into the future. As a citizen and real estate broker who has lived throughout metro Atlanta over the past 20 years, I can honestly tell you that living in the city of Atlanta, now as I do, offers a wonderful opportunity that should continue to get better and better as the project progresses.
